Lead storage battery electrodes are produced by filling a frame or grid of a lead alloy with an active compound comprising a mixture of finely pulverized lead, lead oxides, sulphuric acid and water and passing the electrodes between heated rolls whereby the filled frame is subjected to heat and pressure. By this treatment only the surface layer of the electrode is dried.
