A process for finishing cotton fabrics and resulting fabrics.

The cotton is treated after mercerisation and opt. dyeing with a prepn. comprising a soln. of 120-170 g/l. of a 50% paste of dimethylol urea, 10-15 g./l. of a 30% emulsion of polyethylene and 12-17 g/l. regenerative org. acid catalyst, and then polymsd. Pref. the material comprises 100% cotton; has a warp count of 26, a weft of 24, a metric thread warp no. of 34; a wrap of 28 and a wt. of 165 g./m2.
