摘要
1,154,486. Seaming. BOSTIK Ltd. 1 July, 1966 [6 July, -1965], No. 29657/66. Headings B3J and B3V. [Also in Division C3] Metal can bodies are seamed using an adhesive composition comprising a mixture of thermoplastic materials consisting of 5-50 wt. per cent of an amorphous phenoxy resin of the formula where n is about 100, and 95-50 wt. per cent of crystallizable material comprising a linear polyester corresponding to a reaction product of a glycol component, comprising HO(OH 2 ) a OH where a is 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10, with an acid component comprising terephthalic and isophthalic acids (see Division C3). The composition is applied to at least one of the surfaces to be bonded and a lap joint is formed with the composition substantially molten. The bond formed on cooling is strengthened by reheating to a temperature below the softening point of the composition. The can bodies may be made of tin plate or aluminium.
