The device comprises a cylindrical vessel containing a guide cylinder coaxial with its inner wall and having at one end a rotary mixer which axially sucks in the liquid from the guide cylinder and the feed gas, intimately mixes the gas and liquid and delivers the mixture to the annular space between the guide cylinder and vessel wall in the direction of the other end of the vessel, the novel feature being that the length axis of the vessel is horizontal.
