Accelerated mixing of phases - leading to accelerated chemical reactions etc using gas liquid column

A method for accelerated mixing of phases, where one of the phases is liquid, esp., for accelerating chemical reactions, physical processes and/or thermal exchange, is carried out by producing a gas-liquid column. This is done by introducing the liquid phase in the form of a jet into a vertical chamber with an open bottom, containing gas. The cross-section and kinetic energy of the jet are such, in relation to the cross-section and length of the chamber, that the liquid leaving the lower end of the chamber expels part of the gas in the form of bubbles, thus producing sub-atmospheric pressure above the gas-liquid column. The reaction partners and/or mixing partners are introduced above the lower end of the chamber. The lower, open end may opt. by immersed in a liquid bath.
