Halomercuri N-carboxy anhydrides (I) of basic amino acids (claims arginine, lysine, ornithine, and histidine). Halo may be Br or Cl (claims Cl derivs. of above basic amino acids). (I) are intermediates in novel peptide synth. (not claimed), in which basic amino-acids may be coupled using the N-carboxy anhydride procedure without protecting the extra basic amino-group (synth. illustrated by the prepn. of lysyl-histidine).
