Fluid bed roasting furnace - with steam cooled fluid bed

Heat is abstracted from the fluid bed of a roasting furnace by steam cooled tubular elements, the steam employed is saturated or wet steam which is produced from originally fresh dry steam by passage through a heat exchanger in which steam and water are in direct contact, the temp. of which system is controlled by adjustment of its pressure depending on the bed cooling requirement. Pref. the cooling coils are connected with each other in series with a heat exchanger coil in front of each. Esp. applies to sulphide ore roasting fluid bed furnaces.
