In a system for transmitting data from a remote location, e.g. an oil or gas source, to a central receiving station, the data signalling a change of operating state of a working appts. at the remote location, at which a data transmitting appts. is also present, as well as a current supply source, pref. a battery a normally open electronic switch is connected between this source and the data transmitting appts. and means are provided for operating this switch in such a way that it is closed when a change in the operating state of the working apparatus occurs. Specif. the electronic switch is a transistor connected between the battery and data transmitting appts.
