The mechanism is intended for gripping and transferring short-necked bottles (6). It comprises a movable frame with a number of pairs of upright and joined carrier strips (4) which are laterally slidable in the frame and are actuated to grip the bottles by inflatable hoses (5) arranged between the strips of each pair. - inflation of each hose bends the strips of each pair outwards such that their outer sides (10) grip the necks of two adjacent bottles. The strips are pref. in a resilient material such that they return to their parallel positions when the hose is deflated.PS(2/3)
