Biting objects comprise gelatine or rawhide glue together with fillers, such as china clay. Vitamins, medicaments, aromas, foodstuffs and builders such as Ca, phosphates or milk powder may be included. The fillers pref. contain sugar and/or glycerin to make them less brittle. Objects may be water-soluble or -insoluble. Insoluble objects pref. contain dissolved synthetic resin as well a gelatine or rawhide glue, pref. in a ratio gelatine/synthetic resin of 1. Objects are pref. formed by moulding and may be in the form of foam. They are esp. suitable as play bones for dogs but may be used by other animals and in some cases by humans.
