Synthetic fibre carded fleece - continuous prodn by cross-laying and drafting machines

Continuous manufacture of a padding fleece, particularly from synthetic yarns, and particularly light weight padding as used in the clothing industry, by feeding a carded fibre fleece to a cross-layer to form a cross-laid fleece in the known way, but by thereafter drawing the fleece leaving the cross-layer in at least two successive narrow drawing zones to bring about partial length orientation of the fibres in the direction of the moving material. Pref. a drafting machine with at least two drawing zones is installed downstream of the cross-layer.
