Polypropylene/bitumen blends - contg mixture of boiling toluene-soluble and -insoluble polypropylenes for high elasticity

to 95:5 (by wt.) polypropylene (PP)/bitumen moulding compsn. contains PP mixture of a) 60-80% PP with 1% soluble in boiling toluene and b) 20-40% PP with 99% soluble in boiling toluene. Both a) and b) have about same intrinsic viscosity and mol. wt. distribution (by gel-permeation chromatography) and absolute intrinsic viscosity of 1-10, pref. 1.2-3.8, (in decalin at 130 degrees C). The compsn. is suitable for prodn. of injection mouldings, sheet, pipes, cable sheaths, casting compsns., hollow articles, carpet backings and, when stretched, ribbon for woven and knitted fabrics and carpet base weave. These compsns. have high compatibility with fillers, very good impact resistance and elasticity and show no sweating at elevated temp.
