Foundation mounting for vertical electric machine - incorporates leaf springs permitting damped torsional oscillations, relieving foundations of excessive load

The application is principally to single phase vertically mounted generators where the torsional problem is most pronounced. The object is to relieve the foundations of a substantial part of this load. The stator (1) is mounted independently from the rotor. It is carreid on a support plate (2) which is located on the foundations (4) by brackets (3). - Between brackets and support plate are links (6) consisting of leaf springs permitting circumferential movement of the stator which in effect is suspended from the links. Typically the natural frequency of the stator and link system is 30% of the operating frequency of the machine. The system also serves to absorb shocks due to short circuit forces.
