p-Diazoallylaniline derived from an amine of gen. formula: (in which R1 and R2 are 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy or trihalomethyl in the 2,3,5 or 6 posns. or Cl in the 6-posn; R is lower alkyl or aryl; R3 is methyl, (hydroxy)ethyl, benzyl, aroyl or R-CH = CH-CH2-) is used as diazo cpd. in a one- or two-component diazo-type material. These cpds. couple more rapidly and gives stronger colours than the satd. analogues. Good covering power allows the use of relatively small amt. of coating and thus higher photosensitivity. The cpd. pref. has R1 or R2 in the 3-posn. and esp., R1 and R2 in the 3,6-posns.
