1357422 Piecing arrangement for break spinning machine HOWA KOGYO KK 1 July 1971 [4 July 1970 26 Dec 1970 (2) 29 Dec 1970 (3) 25 May 1971] 30815/71 Heading DID Yarn is pieced in a break spinning machine by feeding a first yarn end 404 into a delivery aperture of a break spinning rotor 203 to piece the yarn and withdrawing an upstream length of spun yarn from the rotor, retrieving a second yarn end from the take-up package 302 and leading parallel and close to the first yarn end, knotting the yarn ends and cutting off the excess and resuming normal spinning (Fig. 3 is the only Figure shown). As described, a travelling carriage containing the yarn piecing devices moves along a break spinning frame until it stops automatically where a yarn break has occured. Piecing yarn in rotor: Holding device 21 is moved upwards to place supplementary yarn end 404 below the delivery aperture of the rotor. An air stream directs the yarn end into the aperture, the end is released and rollers in supply device 1 feed the yarn end into the delivery aperture (Fig. 14, II). A yarn reserve in a deflected yarn path is released to allow the feed of the supplementary yarn into the rotor, (Fig. 14 III). The supply of separated fibres and take up rollers 206 are restarted to allow new yarn to be withdrawn from the rotor. Aligning yarn ends for knotting: A suction device S1 moves forward to the new yarn being spun, cuts this yarn, sucks up the ends and moves back to its original position. The second yarn end from the take-up package is retrieved by a swinging suction nozzle S2 and laid across guide wires (106, 108 Figs. 12, 13). As the knotter 75 moves forward, the guide wires move the second yarn end parallel to the first yarn end. The yarn ends are then knotted and the take-up package is lowered onto its drive roll. In an alternative embodiment, the broken end from the take up package is sucked up and fed to the holding device 21. This end is then led to the rotor, pieced and cut. The section of yarn containing the pieced portion is then cut off after knotting the yarn from the rotor with the yarn from the take up package.
