Lactam cpds - prepd using basic catalyst and copolymerised polyisocyanate-modified epoxy resin

Cpds. contg. a lactam as main component are produced by hardening an anhyd. lactam having a =5-membered ring (e.g. E-caprolactam) under the action of a basic catalyst (e.g. Na) and a copolymeric epoxy resinous mass modified with excess of a polyisocyante (e.g. a reaction prod. of epichlorohydrin and polymethylene-polyphenyl-isocyanate. 5 - 50 pbw modified epoxy resin are used per 100 pbw anhyd. lactam. Large-size castings/mouldings of any shape are made free from internal stresses.
