Lightweight concrete additive - made by firing sand coated granulated clay

Granular additive is made by granulating a moist clay type material, pressing inert fine material into its surface followed by heating to a temperature at which the material swells. The fine inert material is added during granulation from pre-pressed clay. The prefd. inert materials are CaO, Al2O3, SiO2. The process prevents sticking together of the clay particles during firing and permits higher firing temps. resulting in improved swelling. The additive is used in connected with light weight concrete making.
