Polarographic method for determining the concn. of one or more substances in an electrolyte, uses a potential, across a polarisable measuring electrode and a counter-electrode in an electrolytic cell, sufficient to produce an electrode reaction for the substance investigated, where the potential is then held constant for a specified period and the charge transferred through the electrolyte is recorded by integrating the current-time function and the result is then compared with a standard to calculate the concn. The determination of the transferred charge is not commenced until the electrode reaction has been in progress for a given time, which is variable, but exactly determined for each particular case. Specif. the charge determination is carried out in the period 2-12 (6-9) secs. after commencement of electrolysis.
