1378253 Moulding paste such as minced meat G ANNEMANS 17 Jan 1972 [22 Jan 1971] 2133/72 Heading B5A A manually operated mould 1 for producing rounded portions from a paste such as minced meat or mashed potatoes, is bell-shaped with its inner wall covered with a flexible sheet 4 of a non-adhesive material such as polyethylene, which is loose relative the mould wall and is attached to the mould by a rubber band 9. The sheet is attached to an ejector 5, slidable in a tubular part 8, by a plug 6 secured to the sheet and fitting a recess in the ejector. The mould is pressed against a paste supply until its edges 2 engage the paste-supporting surface whereupon it is given a reciprocating rotating movement; after raising the mould the shaped portion is removed by depressing the ejector. The mould may be used with a dish 10 covered with a non- adherent flexible sheet 14 which receives the paste supply and includes a groove 13 to receive the mould edges 2. An air vent 15 is provided. Alternatively, in order to provide a ribbon of paste, the mould is of double cone shape, the apexes of which face each other; the mould is rotated about its axis of symmetry whilst pressure is applied to the paste by the base edges of the cones. A similar ribbon may be formed by the use of a mould in the shape of an open-ended inverted trough. In both of the latter embodiments the paste to be shaped is covered with a flexible non-adhesive sheet.
