Bellows seal valve - for use with liquid metals eg liquid sodium in a nuclear reactor

The valve rod is sealed by an accordion pleated bellows but the rounded or spherical end of the valve rod is inserted in a bucket-shaped cavity on the conical valve member and is pressed against this, and a tubular element concentric with the valve rod is connected at one end to the valve cone and the other end support a spring, preferably helical, fitted inside the tubular element and exerting a pressure on a collar fixed to the valve rod; one end of the bellows is pref. connected in sealed fashion to the tubular element and the other to a part of the valve housing e.g. an intermediate part, while the tubular element is guided along the cylindrical inner surface of the valve housing.
