A weft yarn package is carried on a rotatable spindle within the shuttle and the weft yarn passes in a sinuous path around an assembly of three rollers, mounted on axes parallel with the spindle, before passing through a yarn exit out of the shuttle. Pref. the spindle is spring biassed laterally so that the surface of the package is continuously urged against one of the rollers and another of the rollers has a braking mechanism. The shuttle is used on circular or flat looms. Wear on the yarn is reduced, and the yarn is maintained under constant tension resulting in a better weave, and reducing yarn breaks.
