Forming relief patterns on textile fabrics - by embossing using plate of thermally insulating material

A textile fabric (contg. pref. cotton, polyester, acrylic fibres) is carried pref. on a conveyor above a support table and an embossing plate of thermally insulating material (e.g. resin, rubber, adhesive impregnated card) having a relief pattern formed on one face is pressed against the fabric by a heated presser plate so as to cause plastic deformation of the textile fibres and produce a corresponding relief pattern on the fabric surface. Pref. the presser plate heats the embossing plate to 180 degrees - 210 degrees c.
