Transfer printed leather - by hot pressing tanned leather against a support printed with sublimable dyes

Tanned leather (skins, furs, synthetic leather based on natural leather fibres) is dry dyed or printed, in pressure contact with a transfer support on which is heloiprinted a poly- or monochrome design in one or more dyes sublimable between 160-220 degrees C for up to several min. (pref. 10-20 sec). The leather pref. calf, sheepskin tanned pref. by Cr sulphate is pref. retanned with a dialdehyde and a non-resinous tannin bleach. Textile dyes are used mixed with a binder based on colephane and printed on the support by imitation leather design. Tanned leather is resistant to the high temps. of transfer which untanned leather is not.
