Microcapsules contg detoxicant - for detoxifying blood

Blood detoxifying composn. comprises a detoxicant coated with a material compatible with blood and permeable to the toxins to be removed from the blood but impermeable to the other components of blood. Prefd. adsorbent is activated charcoal; coating agents may be polymeric materials such as cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate. Prefd. form is microcapsules of 0.5 mm dia., coated with 0.5 to 1 pt. of detoxicant. Used at rate of 100 to 500 g to detoxify 0.5 to 3 litres of blood.
