1281995 Rope end attachments CCL SYSTEMS Ltd 20 March 1970 [23 Dec 1968] 61084/68 Heading D1T A steel wire rope end 10 is secured in a conventional oblong section sleeve 6 (as used for securing an eye fitting 8 (Fig. 4)) by insertion into the sleeve with the rope end of a short length of rope 11 or some other filling element, of the same cross-sectional area as the rope end 10, and swaging the sleeve to cylindrical form to grip the rope end. The sleeve, which may have a conical end (Fig. 3, not shown), may retain the rope end in an attachment such as a fork end 5, the attachment having a cylindrical, and possibly partially conical, bore. An attachment with such a partially conical bore may contain a tapered washer 13 (Fig. 5, not shown) as well as a cylindrically sleeved rope end.
