In the embodiment shown two individual half-blades are separately moulded, without a blade shank or root portion, in a reinforced resin material further reinforced with longitudinally laid carbon fibres and are then bonded together. The blade shank and root are then formed by compressing the protruding ends 19 of the carbon whiskers from both halves of the blade between male and female moulds 20, 21.
