摘要
Compounds of the general formulae FORM:1022684/C2/1 where R and R1 are H, alkyl or aryl, Z is chlorine or alkoxy, or Cl2 CH-CH2-CR1=CR2-CH2Z where R1, R2 are H or C1 to C3 alkyl, and is chlorine or alkoxy are made by reacting at elevated temperatures, preferably 80 DEG to 200 DEG C., chloroform and an alkene or alkadiene in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a chloride of copper or iron, in either of its valency states, optionally in the presence of a co-solvent, which if it is an alcohol gives the product wherein Z is alkoxy, and preferably in the presence of an amine hydrochloride and in the presence also, as a reducing agent, of one or more of benzoin, hydroquinone, stannous chloride, alkali metal sulphites and aldehydes. The following compounds are claimed per se: FORM:1022684/C2/2 where Z designates chlorine or alkoxy. The reaction is stated to take place by a mechanism outlined in J. Chem. Soc., 1961, 2261.
