Novel 7 alpha -methyl- DELTA 4,11-gonadiene of the formula WHEREIN R is alkyl of one to four carbon atoms and R' is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, acyl of an organic carboxylic acid of one to 18 carbon atoms and an organic ether radical which have anabolic and androgenic activities and their preparation.
