1389706 Anthraquinone acid dyes CROMPTON & KNOWLES CORP 18 Oct 1972 [20 Oct 1971] 48061/72 Heading C4P The invention comprises anthraquinone acid dyes of the general formula wherein M is H, Na, K, Li or NH 4 , R 1 and R 2 are H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl and R 3 is H, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, F, Cl, Br or NO 2 . They are prepared by condensing 1-amino-4-bromo-anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid under mild alkaline conditions in presence of a copper catalyst with a 4-aminophenol and the intermediate product with a chlorosulphonylbenzoic acid under mild alkaline conditions. The dyes dye nylon, silk and wool, and especially deep dyeing nylon in reddishblue shades.
