1320634 Halohydrazones UPJOHN CO 9 Sept 1971 [5 Oct 1970] 42162/71 Heading C2C Compounds of formula wherein R is a furyl, pyridyl or thienyl radical optionally having one to three alkyl, halo or nitro substituents and n is 0 to 3 are prepared by (a) reacting a heterocyclic carboxylic acid chloride or ester with a hydrazine to form the acid hydrazide and successively reacting this with phosphorus pentachloride and with phenol, or (b) reacting a heterocyclic aldehyde with a hydrazine to form its hydrazone, followed by chlorination. The products are insecticides and miticides.
