[Also in Division C3] Compounds having the structure or wherein X is O or S ; n is 1 or 2; R 1 is a bivalent group which is a C 1-2 alkylene radical, an alkylene radical including as substituents C 1-12 alkyl, C 6-10 aryl, hydroxy or halogen, a C 6-10 arylene radical or such a radical including the substituents named above, nitro and alkoxy of C 1-12 ; R 2 is H, C 1-12 alkyl, C 6-10 aryl or alkaryl or aralkyl of C 7-10 , or such a radical including any of the above substituents or mercapto or wherein Z is H, OH or mercapto and RSP1/SP is H or C 1-4 alkyl and R 3 is H or -NHR 1 Z ; and wherein the R's and X's in the same compound may be the same or different are prepared as follows: (a) compounds of type (1), where X=O are obtained by reacting HSR 1 COOC 2 H 5 with H 2 NNHR 2 ; compounds of type (1) where X= S are obtained from HSR 1 CONH 2 , P 2 S 5 and H 2 NNHR 2 ; compounds of type (2) are obtained by reacting HSR 1 NH 2 ; with R 3 NHNCX ; compounds of type (3) are prepared from dithio-bis- (carboxylic acid esters) or thio or dithio bis-(thio acid amides) with a hydrazine; compounds of type (4) are obtained by reaction of a thio or dithio bis-amide with an isocyanate or isothiocyanate; compounds of type (5) are obtained by a combination of the previous methods as are relevant. Amongst the compounds prepared in the examples are mercapto acethydrazide, bis-mercaptoacethydrazide, # - mercaptopropiono - o - hydroxybenzoyl - bis - hydrazide, mercapto acetamido- N - o - mercaptophenyl - thioureide and N-#- mercaptoethyl-NSP1/SP-salicyl-amidoureide.
