MASTERBATCH MATERIAL IN THE PLASTIC INDUSTRY

Method of making a basic plastics mixture, esp. a pigmented mixture is as follows: a pulverulent raw polymer is mixed with pigment in an atmosphere in which the powder can be permitted to become sufficiently hot to coat the pigment particles; these coated particles are then caused to stick to the surface of polymer pellets having a melting pint higher than that of the pulverulent polymer. Pref., all three constituents may be mixed simultaneously, the resultant pigmented pellets being then optionally re-pelletised.
