Beta Ti-base alloys consist, by weight, of:- In modifications, (a) some V above its lower limit may be replaced by Nb, Ta and/or Mo on the basis 1% V = 2% Nb or 5% Ta or 1À5% Mo, and (b) some Cr above its lower limit may be replaced by an equal weight of W, Mn and/or Fe. The impurities O 2 and N 2 preferably do not exceed 0.3% and 0.2% respectively. Treatments involving heating, air-cooling and ageing are specified.
