The gibberellic acid content and gibberellin A 4 and/or gibberellin A 7 content of a mixture of gibberellic acid with gibberellin A 4 and/or gibberellin A 7 is enriched by partitioning the mixture between an aqueous phase of pH 4- 8À5 and an organic phase comprising a waterimmiscible or partially water-miscible organic solvent selected from esters, ketones and alcohols of up to 10 C atoms, separating the phases to give an aqueous phase enriched in gibberellic acid and an organic phase enriched in gibberellin A 4 and/or gibberellin A 7 , and subsequently recovering the gibberellin A 4 and/ or A 7 from the organic phase. Suitable organic solvents are ethyl acetate, n-butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl n-propyl ketone, n-butanol and n-amylalcohol. The pH or the aqueous phase is preferably 4À4-5À5.
