1,265,238. Laminate. G. SCHICKEDANZ, [trading as VEREINIGTE PAPIERWERKE SCHICKEDANZ & CO.]. 30 Sept., 1970 [1 Oct., 1969], No. 46561/70. Heading B5N. A composite material comprises a layer of non-woven fibres wherein the fibres, which are preferably cellulose, are so short, e.g. 0À14 centimetres that they cannot be carded and a mesh of thermoplastic filaments fused on to one or both sides of said layer, the size of the mesh being three to seven times the length of the fibres. A layer of fleece, crepe or woven fabric may be fused on to one or both sides of the composite. A cellulose flock may be sandwiched between a polyethylene filament mesh and fused under pressure at a temperature of 110‹ C. In another embodiment crepe paper 3 coated with polyethylene 4, a honeycomb 5 consisting of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer filaments, cellulose flock 6 and a second honeycomb 5SP1/SP are superposed and subjected to pressure from plates or rolls at a temperature of 110‹ C. In Fig. 3 a fleece 7, a mesh 8 of polyethylene filaments, a flock 9 and a further mesh 8SP1/SP and fleece 7SP1/SP are superposed and laminated under pressure at 120‹ C. The composites may be used as draw sheets in hospitals, napkins, sanitary towels or surgical bandages.
