Molten C-contg. ferromanganese or a calcium-silicon alloy is poured into a container lined with solid aluminium (pref. scrap) and the melt is stirred with a circulated gas (air is excluded). By this method pptn. of graphite occurring when liquid Al is mixed with liquid C-contg. ferromanganese is diminished. The burning out of aluminium is reduced.
