Removal of acid components from refuse incinerator waste - gases - by adsorption on activated charcoal at temp above the dewpoin

Waste gases from incinerators, esp. for industrial refuse contg. plastics, are conducted through a bed of activated charcoal at temp. =30 degrees C, esp. =15 degrees C above the dew point of the gases. The contaminated charcoal is freed from adsorbed acids by washing first with water and then with dil. NH3 aq. and is put back into circuit without previous drying. Two gas absorbers of known design are used, one being in circuit while the second is being regenerated.
