The rotating shears for separation of fast-running wire comprises two ring-shaped blades rotating around the ring axis and with equal circumferential speed. The blade cutting surfaces are turned towards each other so that both ring blades adopt a shearing position by swivelling one of the two blades during the cutting process. The cutting surfaces of the two ring blades overlap each other permanently with no gap in their effective area, and the blades have differing diameters. Their swivel point lies in their cutting plane. The movable ring blade of the two is displaceable in the direction of its rotary axis to the piston of a work cylinder.
