The card filing system consists of flat surface cards for data which also carry magnetic strips for processing in filing and data processing machines. Separating cards have superimposed riders and indicator tabs which are fitted with attachments projecting beyond the normal index cards permitting the user easy access or separation to a number of cards. An adjoining separating card (3) is supplied for each index card (1) each of the former has a hole (4) in the top corners which forms part of a projecting tongue (4) to provide access for a lifting fork. The separating cards (3) are fitted with spring loaded splaying elements.
