An electronic musical instrument is provided with a touch responsive keying circuit in which the resulting rate is at an intensity proportional to the speed with which the key is depressed. When the key is pressed contacts of a two way two gang switch break and a capacitor, charged to substantiate the H.T. voltage, starts to discharge. When the depression of the key is finished, e.g. at earth time for a quick depression, or at later time for a slower depression, the charge remaining on the capacitor is transferred via now made contacts of the switch, to a storage capacitor. The resultant voltage across this capacitor, proportional to the speed of key depression, determines the loudness of the note.
