The calcium compound may be calcium chloride, nitrate, acetate, gluconate, benzoate, citrate, formate, fumarate, lactate, butyrate, isobutyrate, malate, maleate, propionate and/or valerate, and the phosphate may be potassium, sodium or ammonium orthophosphate an alkali metal metaphosphate or polyphosphate; or fructose, sorbitol, glucose, sucrose, mannitol or isositol phosphate or glycerophosphate and their water-soluble salts. The composition may be in the form of a paste or gel, each phase being separately accommodated in a two-compartment tube or aerosol can: a multi-layer chewing gum, bonbon, dragee or mouthwash, an emulsion or dispersion where the calcium compound and the phosphate are present in different phases; or the phosphate or calcium compound may be encapsulated.
