Thin Ta and Ti wires which are anchored in the jaw-bone of a holder can be joined directly in the mouth by resistance welding. The tool first presses the wires together and passes a first current pulse. After an interval (1-3 sec.), longer than the pulse duration (15 millisec.) a second current pulse of higher energy content follows.
