The mercury sphygmomanometer has a pressure measurement system with a hand operated device to produce and control an air flow which is fed to a first inflatable later chamber via a flexible pipe. The later chamber is attached to an arm band and connected to the pressure measurement device by a second pipe. - The pressure measurement manometer (15) is of integral construction produced from a meltable and castable material, having all its functional elements in the form of cavities (19-21) within its cast body (16). The latter is preferably in the form of an elongated, rectangular block.
