Moulding prepns. showing synergistically increased thermal and chemical stability contain (a) a copolymer produced from a precondensate of 1 mole phenol with 1.3 - 1.6 mole formaldehyde by reaction with 4.5-5.5 moles of furfuryl alcohol and further 0.5-1.5 mole of formaldehyde; (b) 0.1-1 wt.% (w.r.t. resin) of diethyl sulphate (as a hardener); and (c) asbestos and/or graphite and/or quartz and/or glass fibres.
