Finishing surfaces takes place by combined action of =1 metal complex salt, esp. a Cr complex salt, and a silicone, and processing both components in a layer-forming manner, or adding the 2 components consecutively metal complex salt being added first, followed by application of silicone in a layer-forming manner. Org. Si component may be a silicone resin, -rubber and-or modified silicone hardenable by catalysts, cross-linking agents, hardeners and heat. Polyvalent reactive metal complex salts of Werner system are prefd., esp. derived from fluorinated fatty acids. Layer pt. contg. metal complex salt may be prepd. from an opt. aq. alcoholic soln. or dispersion, also contg. an aq. compatible soln. and/or dispersion of an additive, esp. one contg. gps. reactive with metal complex salt.
