Mould tool closing mechanism - esp for injection moulding machines using double acting drive cylinder

The piston rod on the side of the double acting piston remote from the mould tool is hollow and contains the piston rod of an independent control cylinder also double acting contained in the extension. This piston rod operates a plate valve which is opened and closed over bleeder channels between the two halves of the main piston and cylinder. A further cylinder and piston on annular form is used to couple the main piston to the moving half of the mould tool. The three cylinders are interconnected via a network of multiway valves so that the whole system can be rapidly operated in both senses without excessive mechanical shocks.
