Mica paper - with high mechanical strength and temp resistance

Material with high mechanical strength and temp. resistance is produced by using a mixt. of polyester fibres and fine mica. After suctioning off excess water, the mixt. is calendered at 190-200 degrees C to soften the thermoplastic fibres and bond them together at their points of intersection, whilst locking the mica platelets in the lattice. The high mica content (e.g. 80-90%) exposes a large part of the surface area of platelets. The max. thickness of finished paper is 100 g/m2. It is strong enough to be taped mechanically and does not need an impregnant.
