A simple method of locating the position of voltage supply dynamic failures in data processing equipment, particularly in telephone networks, uses a parity checking system. Basically the storage unit of such a data processor is divided into two or more groups (Ra, Rb), typically, for double length working with each single length word of each associated work pair belonging to a different group. The power supply to this arrangement is arranged in blocks (B11, B21.....) which effectively cut across these groups. Associated with each group is a parity checking network (PNa, PNb) and a parity block (Ba, Bb). When any power line fails, the parity checking network in both groups registers failure and the particular pair indicate, in turn, which power supply block has exhibited a dynamic fault.
