Heat exchanger - deep corrugated plate sealed by gaskets to end plates overcomes thermal cracking

The plate heat-exchanger esp. for air consists of a multiple folded or deep corrugated plate accommodated within a cubial frame, with at least one inlet and outlet opening for each heat-exchanger medium whereby the plate ends are sealed of by means of flat end covers and jackets, which are essentially of a felt like, heat resistant, wire reinforced material. The side of the jacket facing the end of the heat-exchanger plate is treated with a solidifying, heat resistant compound. The sides of the plate are sealed to the frame by a u-shaped gasket and/or solidifying cpd. Such heat-exchangers are more economical to produce, avoiding expensive brazing and welding operations. Thermal cracking and leakage is reduced.
