Pipe joint - of swollen soft modified pvc ring which shrinks after installation

An elastomeric layer of natural or synthetic rubber type material is placed over the joint zone and clad with a ring of soft modified PVC which is 20 - 25% smaller than the dia. of piping, but which is expanded 30 - 40% on site by immersion in a swelling agent of acetone and/or methylene chloride, and allowed to shrink after mounting. Provides a sealed joint for plain-ended pipes, which offers a cheaper system than profiled piping with jointing flanges.
